On August 1, 2010 Linus released the 2.6.35 kernel. This kernel is now available in the git repository of Ubuntu 10.04 and you are able to compile your own 2.6.35 kernel for Ubuntu 10.04. This kernel is backported from the Maverick kernel repository.

A few days ago git version 1.7.2 was released and due to some changes to the source it took a little longer to create the packages.
Currently I have created the Lucid packages and I’m asking you guys to let me know if there is a need for the Karmic and/or Jaunty packages as well.
For Lucid there has been a major change in the package naming.

The latest version of git, 1.7.1.1, has been released a while back and is now available in my repository for Ubuntu 10.04, 9.10, 9.04. Due to the fact I was on vacation when the new release came out I wasn’t able to release it sooner.
To use my repository follow the instructions posted on the git packages page.
The Ubuntu kernel developers are actively back-porting the Ubuntu Maverick kernel to Ubuntu 10.04. This means that as a Ubuntu 10.04 user, you can compile the, as I write this, 2.6.35 kernel with Ubuntu modifications. I’m running this kernel myself without any problems. Because the kernel developers are also maintaining the original 2.6.32 kernel they made some changes on how to compile the kernel. For us users it means you can’t follow my original article on compiling the Lucid kernel for the newer kernel.
