Time to pick things up again

Finally my laptop arrived. It’s a Dell Inspiron 1720 with 4GB of memory. Currently I’m running Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy) 32bits.

I didn’t have any trouble installing Ubuntu. I was a little worried, brand new laptop, 1920×1200 screen, 4GB, Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN , Intel Core2 Duo T9300 but almost everything worked straight out of the Ubuntu box. Of course the memory wasn’t fully utilized but after compiling a new kernel with 64GB memory support all of it being utilized. While I was at it I decided to change the processor default for the kernel to Core2 as well. The other thing that didn’t work either was the scrolling function on the touchpad. after manually adding it to the xorg.conf it works perfectly.

Pretty soon I’ll be picking up my plug-in development and address the open questions on the forum.
